Current FNHC Pediatric Providers
Currently no pediatric providers, but FNHC has many family practitioners that see children and adults of all ages.

Why a pediatrician?
Pediatricians are specialists in the health of infants, children, and adolescents. As specialists, they have been trained to provide medical care unique to the infant, child, and young adult. We desire to provide our patients with as much choice as possible in the healthcare of your family.

What pediatric services do/will we offer?
It is our goal to provide total comprehensive pediatric care. This includes all of the following:

  • General Pediatric Needs
We are committed to providing quality pediatric care for your child. This will include providing routine well-child examinations, immunizations, and health-care maintenance. We pledge to treat within the realm of our capabilities and refer your child to appropriate pediatric specialists when need be.
  • Acute Medical Care
We are committed to being available for your child when they need acute medical care. If we are unable to handle acute medical treatment at the clinic we will assist you in getting your child to the appropriate facility.
  • Newborn Care and Prenatal Consultations
We love newborn care, and it is our desire to be available to new parents of Central Illinois. If you are expecting, and have questions please feel free to contact us. We have close relationships with all of the surrounding hospitals and birthing centers, and we will be available to you immediately following the discharge of your newborn from the hospital.
  • Medical Home for Special Needs Children
We believe that all children should have a medical home. We recognize that all children have different needs, and we want to build strong relationships with patients and families that have special needs.
  • Hospital Care
Our pediatricians do not provide direct patient care to children in the hospital. If we feel your child needs hospital admission and pediatric sub-specialty care, we will likely arrange for admission to the children’s hospital in Springfield or St. Louis. If your child needs to be admitted, but does not necessarily need pediatric specific sub-specialty care we will admit them to the Southern Illinois University Family Medicine team at Decatur Memorial Hospital. The CHIC pediatricians are actively involved with providing pediatric teaching for the SIU residents and we have daily feedback and input on our patients that are admitted at Decatur Memorial.

Pediatric Guide
Current Version in MS Word (Updated – April 28, 2010) (Terms of Use)
The CHIC Pediatric Guide was compiled by Dr. Hebertson. The purpose of our pediatric guide is to introduce you to our pediatric services, to provide you with information about what to expect with your pediatric office visits, and to provide you reference for certain pediatric health-related situations. We provide printed versions to new patients and an electronic version will always be available here. We hope to continually update the guide, so please offer your suggestions and check often for updated versions. If you have questions, please review the guide, before calling. You may find what you need there, but if after looking, you are still concerned please do not hesitate to give us a call.
